Bah Kut Teh @ Kedai Makanan & Minuman Kei Heong

Oct 21 2009 Published by coolcat under At The Office,Foodies

Come lunch time, Celeste had a sudden craving for Bah Kut Teh.  I wasn’t really keen for two reasons – I wasn’t in the mood for something that heavy and for another, I hail from Klang.  As you know, Klang is the nirvana for all things Bah Kut Teh.  Klangites are the most discerning Bah Kut Teh connoiseurs and not many restaurants outside Klang can live up to our lofty expectations.

Unfortunately, since I was the only Klangite around, the six other fellow lunch partners overruled me.  So off to Kedai Makanan dan Minuman Kei Heong we went.

As expected, the restaurant’s Bah Kut Teh fell short of Klang’s glorious offerings.  The soup was not thick enough and lacked a certain oomph.  But the meat was quite tender and the portions were generous. I would give it a 7/10.

We ordered a pot for 5 pax which costs RM50

Yau Char Kuai – The perfect accompaniment to dip into BKT’s broth

The second dish was the Steamed Chicken which Billy mistook for steamed frog legs.  It probably did resemble frog legs from where he was sitting, LOL.  The texture of the meat was a little tough and the gravy was rather bland.  People who like healthy, non-salty food would appreciate this more than I.  I’ll it a 6/10.

The so-so Steamed Chicken

The best of the three dishes would be the Cabbage with Dried Shrimps.  I couldn’t get enough of this tasty, crunchy and oh-so-scrumptious dish!

Yummy cabbages

All in all, it was still a good and filling lunch. The challenge now is keeping ourselves alert in the office after such a hefty meal.

A Compartmentalised Life

Mar 05 2009 Published by coolcat under At The Office

I’m not keen on meeting colleagues during weekends and public holidays.  If it’s their wedding, then I’ll make an exception.  But if it’s just for eating and socializing, I’m not too keen on it.  Even if there’s salted egg crabs in the offing.

Similarly, I don’t feel comfortable with friends roaming about my workplace or calling me during office hours.  If I’m outstation for work, I have a tendency not to ring friends who live there to catch up.

Weekends and holidays are for family, friends and myself and working days are strictly for work.  And may the two never cross paths.

Am I the only one who likes such a compartmentalized existence?

Job Perks

Mar 20 2008 Published by coolcat under At The Office,Humour

I received an sms and read it when my hands were free.

“Hey… I see you busy taking pictures of half naked men wearing watches! The first chap looked pretty yummy.” (refer to pic of said yummy looking man above)

Oooops, busted. By my ex-colleague no less. Dang, I hoped he didn’t catch me drooling on the job. I dabbed discretely at the corners of my mouth, just in case.

What can I say? At times, my job requires that I shoot half naked men as they prance on stage, and sometimes I even get to meet hot personalities such as one F1 champ, Kimi Raikonnen. With the latter, I discovered that it was the guys who were most envious of me.

With the erratic hours that I put into the job, I say it is only fair that I get to feast on some eye candy. And I’m not about to feel guilty about it.

So there :P

The Cat Is Busy

Mar 16 2008 Published by coolcat under At The Office

Hi all! Some of you may be wondering how I’m doing in my new job change.

Well, in my first week of work, I’ve re-written a couple of press releases, wrote advertorials, letters, reviewed a fine dining restaurant (free food @ a lovely place!!!) and interviewed and wrote someone’s profile for the magazine. I typed this bit out in Gloria Jeans before I attend a fashion show.

Yep, it’s a drastic change from what I used to do and I have much less free time on my hands but at least I wake up from my bed with a bounce these days.

And that makes all the difference.

:D

Mini Boss

Jul 20 2007 Published by coolcat under At The Office

The desserts chef and staff certainly outdid themselves with this humourous depiction of one of our bosses. Everyone who saw it couldn’t help laughing out loud – including bossie himself. Every detail – down to the three strands of hair – truly describes numerous cute facets of our boss. Happy birthday, bossie!
