I Finally Met My Soulmate

Mar 31 2008 Published by coolcat under Thoughts

My ex-boss called me a few days ago. It was nice to hear from him. And I was glad that we could talk like we were friends. Previously, there was this invisible wall between us but now, it’s gone.

He asked how my new job was and I just answered honestly from my heart, “It’s a perfect fit for me. It’s like finding my soul mate whom I’ve been looking for all my life.”

Not a day passes that I did not think to myself, how blessed I am to be given this opportunity and seeing how my labor is appreciated just makes my heart sing even more. I did ask God, “Why did I only meet my ’soul mate’ now?” But the answer is not for me to know. Not yet anyway. And it really doesn’t matter. Now that I’m here at long last – my childhood dream fulfilled. A writer.

Someone pinch me.

Job Perks

Mar 20 2008 Published by coolcat under At The Office, Humour

I received an sms and read it when my hands were free.

“Hey… I see you busy taking pictures of half naked men wearing watches! The first chap looked pretty yummy.” (refer to pic of said yummy looking man above)

Oooops, busted. By my ex-colleague no less. Dang, I hoped he didn’t catch me drooling on the job. I dabbed discretely at the corners of my mouth, just in case.

What can I say? At times, my job requires that I shoot half naked men as they prance on stage, and sometimes I even get to meet hot personalities such as one F1 champ, Kimi Raikonnen. With the latter, I discovered that it was the guys who were most envious of me.

With the erratic hours that I put into the job, I say it is only fair that I get to feast on some eye candy. And I’m not about to feel guilty about it.

So there :P

The Cat Is Busy

Mar 16 2008 Published by coolcat under At The Office

Hi all! Some of you may be wondering how I’m doing in my new job change.

Well, in my first week of work, I’ve re-written a couple of press releases, wrote advertorials, letters, reviewed a fine dining restaurant (free food @ a lovely place!!!) and interviewed and wrote someone’s profile for the magazine. I typed this bit out in Gloria Jeans before I attend a fashion show.

Yep, it’s a drastic change from what I used to do and I have much less free time on my hands but at least I wake up from my bed with a bounce these days.

And that makes all the difference.

:D

Hey Ho, Hey Ho, It’s Off to Work I Go…

Mar 09 2008 Published by coolcat under Thoughts

Holiday’s over and it’s off to work I go. Not much time to blog this weekend. Will post more Bali photos later. Here’s one taken at the place we stayed in Ubud. I still miss living so close to the green green paddy fields and the peace and tranquility of the simple country life.

The Winds of Change

Mar 08 2008 Published by coolcat under Thoughts

I’m back from Bali and nope, couldn’t make it in time to vote :( But as the votes are being counted and publicized, I am amazed and happy at the winds of change happening in our political scene. Yes indeed, we the rakyat can make a difference.

I hope to wake up to more good news.

Nites (or rather, morning!) :)

Updates:

I did indeed wake up to great news! May the new victors form a godly and just government for the benefit of the people. People power rules!

Diary of an Unemployed Cat

Mar 04 2008 Published by coolcat under Thoughts

Who says unemployed people have way too much ample time on their hands? Here’s a day in the life of one such person:

11am (on a working day):

A shrill tune invaded my comatose-like sleep. On and on it went. I willed for it to go away. It didn’t. “Dang bird,” I muttered and reached out to rap at the window pane near by bed to silence it. Unfortunately (for me), the thick-skinned bird could not take a hint. I crawled out of my warm bed and flung the drapes open. The shockingly yellow bird immediately took off and its annoying song stopped. I went back under my covers hoping to carry on my fitful slumber. But the damage was done. I couldn’t go back to sleep.

A slow smile crept up my face as I recalled that this was Day 2 of my break. I was not answerable to any boss. Not for the next 6 days, that is. SC puts it so succinctly – after 7 years of slogging away, surely I deserve 7 days of rest. I soon gave up on trying to sleep and sms-ed and mailed a few people. I wanted to gloat share my joy of not working with some chums, make a lunch appointment with a dear friend at my current favorite restaurant (Carl’s Jr) and also to make arrangements to pass something to someone.

I looked through my travel check list (yes, I’ll be away on hols starting tomorrow) and made a short list of things to get and do. And then I pattered downstairs to say good morning to my folks.

12 noon:

I was greeted with a mini report on obesity and its repercussions. Apparently earlier this morning, my parents came across a group of obese women who were formerly stick thin. It scared the patooties out of them thinking that their girls will end up like those women. Hence the mini-lecture on being careful with what I eat, etc, etc. Then they had to go and spoil it all by saying, “Oh ya, we bought some donuts for your breakfast. Make sure you finish them ar?”

So much for their talk on being careful with what I eat :P

1pm-5pm:

Drove to One U to meet SC at Carl’s Jr, run my errands and then finishing up with coffee at Gloria Jeans.

6pm onwards:

Blog, pack and have an early night. For tomorrow, Bali awaits!

So you see, how busy I was running around getting things done, even when I’m not reporting for work. But the tense knots in my stomach when I am dealing with work stresses is noticeably absent. Even SC noticed that my walking pace has slowed down and that I’m relaxed and smiling more.

This shall be the new me. For the next 6 days, that is. LOL. After that, before I can get bored of being on a break, a new chapter of my working life awaits. By then, I shall be refreshed and ready for new challenges. But for now, I’m enjoying every single blissful unemployed moment.
