On Coffee

I don’t do discos. I don’t do clubs. What I do dig though is coffee. Anytime, anywhere. Add great company into the picture and I’m in seventh heaven. Which was practically where I was the whole weekend.

Let’s see… lunches and dinners outside with the family. I had kopi peng every single time.

Then had Starbuck’s Machiato with Caramel with FM. Milky and very yummylicious.

And while bezzie was happily sipping her hot milo, I had ice-blended kopi cham (coffee mixed with tea). I suspected that lethal concoction was the culprit in keeping me awake the whole night yesterday.

Yes, this has been a great coffee-filled weekend.

I’m happy.

Hic!

On Eggs

I had no such luck pigging out on eggs this weekend though. When our food arrived at the table, I gawked at my Cantonese Fried Ying Yong in dismay. There were no eggs in sight. It was darn plain-looking. Probably darn plain-tasting, too. No eggs, no kick.

“Dad, why did you not order any eggs for my Ying Yong?” I asked. My parents and brother are anti-egg yolk people whereas I totally dig yolks. So it was customary for them to order food sans eggs for themselves but as for me, I would get the whole works.

“The bird flu is getting worse. So no eggs for you for now,” dad replied.

I nodded and ate my food thoughtfully. If I were a parent, would I have allowed my egg-yolk loving child to inhale eggs at such a time like this when the bird flu cases are increasing and are so close to home? It was a no-brainer question. I wouldn’t give her eggs. I would do all I can to keep my loved ones safe from harm.

But if it were just my safety that is at stake, well, that is a different matter. I would take risks that I wouldn’t allow my loved ones to. Double standards? Perhaps. For my dad’s peace of mind, I shall stay from eggs for now. But boy, am I thankful that there is no such thing as coffee flu. Well, not yet anyway.

Ooooh, how can I live without my coffee and eggs and soya sauce?? How eh?
