Last week, we had a delightful couple visit our youth cell group. When Nancy contacted me to ask for directions and meeting time, I was doubtful as to whether our cell would be able to meet their needs.
No doubt they are young (in their mid-20′s) but still, they are an affianced pair. Wouldn’t they want to talk about marital preparation issues in cell or what’s the best way to do couples’ devotions together? And how to resolve conflicts and work through errr… couple issues?
In short, I was wondering if they knew what they were getting themselves into. A place where we basically let our hair down and share about our lives… as singles mostly – puppy love and crushes don’t count. I felt even more inadequate when Lim shared that he was a student in a reputable bible college. Mama mia, would they find our cell trivial at best and irrelevant at worst? Man, talk about pressure.
Only one thing to do.

Aiya, just be ourselves lar. It’s kinda hard to be anything or anyone else.
So we played our ice-breakers with gusto. And mercilessly made our new friends do crazy impersonations. And then we shared openly and freely about our lives. And liberally tossed in a few silly jokes and cheekily teased each other as usual.
And they actually liked it. What’s more, they are actually crazy folks themselves. We can’t help falling in like with them

Nancy and Lim, it was a blast meeting the two of you. We’re glad you found a home in the cell and we look forward to getting to know you better in days to come. You may be in a different stage in life, but we think you guys are cool
