Busy…

Oct 29 2003 Published by coolcat under Uncategorized

Been busy at work and ministry and my car needs fixin’ :doze:

Really not much time to do the things that I want to do – learning the keyboard, water-colour painting, reading the rest of the Left Behind series books at the church library and also fiction writing. I feel like I am just chugging along with whatever I have to do and putting all these things on hold. I look forward to the end of the year when I have more free time and be careful to slot time for the things I mentioned above in my schedule next year.

On the bright side, my siblings are organising a trip down to Melaka next weekend. Normally, it’s me who does the organising for holidays, but it’s great that someone else is taking care of that department :satisfied: All I have to do is just pack up and go. No drivin’ involved. Just in for the fun

Gotta go back to work…

Good Samaritan Home

Oct 26 2003 Published by coolcat under The Cell

Visited the Good Samaritan orphanage with several of my cell members this afternoon and it was as heartwarming as two weeks ago when we first came there. The children were evidently well taken care of and opened their hearts to us easily. We ate pizza with them and played the Blanket game. After that the younger ones were supposed to have their afternoon nap, but after they retreated into their room, they enjoyed having some of us spend time with them there.

They love to bring people around their home and show off their pet chickens and fishes, and doggies, too. What touched our hearts was seeing how the older ones care for those younger than them. They are gentle with them and treated them as equals. This is clearly attributed to the fine way Mr. Albert Ong and his team used to love, train and discipline the children.

Album Maker

Oct 25 2003 Published by coolcat under Links

Finally! After searching for ages for a great album sharing software, I finally found a real cool one for FREE! :D There are so many out there which doesn’t do much more than that and costs a bomb. AlbumDIY has really cool templates and all, and it makes it easier for me to distribute my executable photo album to friends and family alike via email.

Check it out at http://www.visimon.com/index.htm Thanks, Visimon ;)

Dengue

Oct 25 2003 Published by coolcat under Uncategorized

Ray is down with dengue and Chriselle is keeping watch over him at the hospital. He is indeed blessed to have her around. She is a great gal with a big heart for God and for the people around her. Visited him at the hospital with my bro this afternoon and he looked feverish and was quiet. Very much unlike his chirpy self. It was good to see some familiar faces from church come to visit him.

Ray lives in USJ – a place notorious for dengue cases. I’ve been doing some research on this disease and learned that it affects the platelet counts in our blood cells. Platelets are useful in preventing our bodies from haemorraging and clots our wounds to prevent us from bleeding to death. A normal platelet count is 190 to over 200. Ray’s is now 12 and he is starting to vomit. The doctor has put him on a platelet transfusion and we are praying that his platelet count will increase soon.

Dear Lord, keep him safe and heal him completely…

Wow, lookie here… was a bit productive today and changed the look of this place and upgraded to Greymatter v1.3. Now I can put in my latest favourite music, current mood and emoticons. The calendar is not working too well though. It never did. Well, anyway, things here are really cool right now if I may say so myself

Battle of the rashes

Oct 22 2003 Published by coolcat under Tips

Finally! After two weeks of misery, the rashes are going, going, gone! What a relief!

The web has been a great source of info on how to self-medicate those nasty red rashes around my eyes. Used it to arm myself with info before traipsing over to the pharmacy. Also friends who have triumphed over rashes caused by allergy helped me immensely. Your support is very much appreciated :)

One of the first steps would be to discern what new cosmetic product or food have been consumed. In my case, I couldn’t think of any. The next thing I did was to visit a pharmacist who took one look at my face and knew that it was caused by an allergen (something that my body is allergic to). He prescribed the Fucidin H cream, which is a hydrocortisone which I applied after reading the instructions thoroughly. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless they read the instructions first. If the cream has contact with your eye, it can cause glaucoma. As always, read the manual first especially when it comes to medication, prescribed or otherwise. Remember that Google is your best friend in terms of reference.

Then I took antihistamine pills to lessen the effects of my body’s reaction towards the allergen. Upon mom’s advice, I took evening primrose oil. Added royal jelly to my diet and used a goat’s milk cleanser for good measure, too. After a few days, the rashes lessened and now they are gone :D

No longer wearing my sunnies today online. I’m walking on sunshine, yee-haw!

John 9

Oct 20 2003 Published by coolcat under Devotions

John 9 is a truly inspiring chapter which teaches me new truths every time I read it. I encouraged my fellow cast members to meditate on it during their devotions and to share it with one another. Here is my sharing:

“The blind man in John 9 is a remarkable character. He was a simple man who did not waste time in asking whys or feeling sorry for himself. He was a man who fear no one but God, and spoke the truth fearlessly even when he knew telling something that the Pharisees do not like to hear will get him thrown out of the temple. How unlike his fearful parents! In this case, the saying ‘Like father, like son’ doesn’t apply ;)

The Lord did not abandon him when he was lonely and in search of his savior. Jesus deliberately went to find him and to tell him that he did not believe in him in vain.

That spoke to me strongly because in my darkest hours, I can trust that Jesus will come to encourage me to press on. And indeed He has. How important it is for me to frequently take time off to reflect upon what has happened, and see how faithful and good God has been to me through the years. God promises in Heb 13:5 that He will never leave you nor forsake you. The blind man’s story cements this promise.

The amazing thing was, this miracle where a man born blind could see again was not done before. His miracle was talked about in several other chapters as proof that Jesus came from God and was not a demon. Indeed, his handicap was meant to glorify God. What joy, what hope it is to know that the breakthroughs that have happened or will happen to us will be talked about by others as testimonies to glorify God. I’m so encouraged to hear the testimonies by some of you last Tues. Let’s continue to give God the glory for the things He has done.”
